I’ve heard about criminals that go to a hotel and sit in the lobby or another community area with their laptop and host a wifi network themselves, making it look like it’s from the hotel. Then when you log in to the wifi that you think is from the hotel, like in many hotels you get the screen where you have to fill out your creditcard information etc. but actually you are just writing all the information down for the criminal.
That’s why you should always check with the hotel staff what is the exact name of the network.
